In September 2013, a number of cultural tourist attractions were born in Nanxijiang. On the scene of China Nanxijiang Second Water and Mountains Cultural tourism Festival, over 20 cultural pavilions in the core scenic spots of Yantou and more than 33 rural cultural halls of Yongjia County were open collectively. Over more than 200 ancient villages have been built along the bank of Nanxijiang, Yongjia County since the Tang and Song dynasty, in which over 60 are well preserved. In the beginning of this year, Yongjia County started the construction project for Nanxijiang cultural park with an investment of nearly 300 million yuan by the resources of ancient villages. Yongjia County Tourism Investment Group has invested over 30 million yuan on building cultural exhibition halls in these ancient villages, including Furong, Cangpo and Yantou. The 20 cultural pavilions of the first group have their individual themes, such as the Longevity Pavilion, which reflects the longevity town of Yongjia featuring its people with long life, and Farming-Reading Pavilion, which displays the farming-reading culture of Yongjia. These cultural pavilions not only exploited and utilized the ancient villages’ resources, but also developed and inherited the excellent traditional culture of Yongjia, adding a new cultural tourism content to Nanxijiang.
